Track Practice: Predict the Landing
Track is the second event: a ball leaves the launcher, follows its parabola, and disappears before it lands. You click where it will come down. Here you can practise that single estimate and see the miss in pixels.
How Track is played
- 1
Watch the arc
The ball leaves the launcher at a fixed speed and angle, falls under gravity, and vanishes just under halfway through its flight. The visible stretch sets the answer.
- 2
Click the landing spot
Once the ball is gone, click the point on the ground where you expect it to arrive. There is no drag and no second guess: the click is the answer.
- 3
Compare the marks
The result marks the true landing point beside your click and reports the distance in pixels, then scores it on the same curve a scored round uses.
Track questions
Why does the ball disappear before it lands?
The ball hides a little under halfway through the flight. Everything after that has to come from the shape of the arc you already saw, which is what the event measures.
How is a Track miss scored?
As the horizontal distance between your click and the true landing point, in pixels. One sigma is 60 pixels in a normal question, which is worth a score of 61.
Do bounces count?
On the Friday variant the ball may strike a wall once before it lands. The contact is not the answer — follow the bounce to where the ball comes down.
